Little Otters Program is a nature and play based kindergarten and first grade program located here at Emery Farm in Durham, NH. We offer a balanced curriculum of learning through play and exploration in nature. We teach literacy using the Fundations program and Reader’s and Writer’s Workshop models. Mathematics is taught using the Wild Math and Everyday Math programs. Our curriculum focuses on teaching about the natural and farm environments, as well as focusing on social skills to foster kindness, respect, resiliency, empathy, and a love for living things. We have a 6:1 teacher/student ratio.
Emery Farm is an idyllic setting for Little Otters’. We have an indoor classroom above the Market & Café and will also be using one of the greenhouses. We'll explore the trails and agricultural aspects of the property, learn about and care for the animals, help gather eggs and enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings.
This program follows the school
year calendar.
Hours 8:30am–12:30pm Mon–Thurs.
This allows our students time to practice social skills and learn with a low student to teacher ratio, while also having ample family time.
